Konstantin Sigov

Konstantin Sigov – Director of the Scientific Publishing Society “Duh i Litera” and the European Humanities Research Center of the National University “Kiev Mohyla Academy” and Chief Editor of the journal “Duh i Litera”. Born in Kiev 31 May 1962. In 1984 he completed studies at the Kiev Engineering- Building Institute. In 1986 he began research in the Institute of Philosophy named after H. S. Skovoroda of the National Academy of Science of Ukraine. Here Konstantin Sigov defended his Candidate’s thesis on “Play as a problem of philosophical anthropology” (1990).

1986-1991 he worked in the Institute of Philosophy of the National Academy of Sciences and has the position of Scientific Secretary of the Philosophical Society of Ukraine. He was on the Editorial Board of the journal “Philosophical and Social Thought” (1998-1995). 1991 he has a period of study in the College de France in Paris. 1992-1994 Konstantin Sigov was lecturing as Associate Professor in the Higher School of Social Research. 1992 he began work in the Kiev-Mohila Academy University as Director of the Franco-Ukrainian Laboratory, founded by him, since 1996 called the European Humanities Research Center.

In 1992 Kostyantin Sigov founded the Scientific Publishing House “Duh i Litera” of which he is still Director. In 1997 he took part in the creating of the journal “Duch i Litera” of which he is still Chief editor. Publishing projects are the basis for developing scientific contacts with comparable (?) European scientific schools.
Within this compass leading scientists and experts have lectured in Kiev, such Paul Ricoeur, George Niva, Reinhardt Kozellek,  Jutta Scherrer, Pierre Asner, Kallistos Ware, Jonathan Sutton,  Barbara Kassen and others. Their contributions have been published in the journal “Duh i Litera”.

Konstantin Sigov is the author of over 50 scientific works, dedicated to philosophy and the history of culture, philosophical anthropology, ethics and the history of art.

Konstantin Sigov’s researches have been published in scientific editions in France, Germany, USA, Britain, Italy, Switzerland, and Sweden.

Kostyantin Sigov has considerable lecturing experience in French and English at the universities of the Sorbonne, Oxford, Stanford, Geneva,  Louvain etc.

The French Ministry of Higher Learning and Scientific Research awarded him the Order of Academic Distinction and created him an honorary Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Palmes Academiques.

In the National University of Kyiv -Mohyla Academy Konstantin Sigov gives M.A. authors’ course of lectures on ‘European culture: conflict of interpretations.’

He is widely experienced in organising and leading dozens of international conferences, seminars and summer schools both in Ukraine and Western Europe.
